Last month’s photo contest was called “Real Mom Moments,” and nearly 400 entries came in! There were so many incredible photos entered, and today I wanted to share my absolute favorites from the contest. In truth, there were so many good ones, and so many more I could have added to today’s post.
I have a deep admiration for every mom who is a real mom to her child(ren). Heaven knows we have a lot of them around here! Enjoy…
Rock on ladies.
And for anybody who hasn’t yet, be sure to enter this month’s “Real Dad Moments” Photo Contest!

My favorite is the little girl in the red & white sweater on the swing. I was looking around for something to brighten my day, and that got my smiling instantly. It's just such happiness. :)
Thank you.
the first pic is my sister and my niece. i love them
These are amazing. Some of them jerked some tears out of me.
My recent post Love Does Not Spoil
When I submitted my photo, I decided not to choose an old one showing my kids when they were babies or toddlers, but one showing them as they are now - teenagers. And I'm so glad that my picture is here, thank you (it's the one with the 6 of us being silly in the mountains).
This photo means a lot to me, because I wanted to show that parenting doesn't stop when kids are in highschool or in college. We have so much to share with our teenage kids. But we must sometimes find new ways to communicate.
And also this photo means a lot because 2 of the kids are my nephews, the sons of my sister who passed away 5 years ago. Their real mom is in their heart... and I try hard to be their real aunt.
Thank you for sharing, thank you for reading.
Awwww- these made me all teary eyed :( My one and only baby graduates this weekend so the new baby pictures just make me all ooey gooey. What a lovely contest <3 My recent post What Are You Trying To Say Exactly
Beautiful! I saw sweet little Noah amongst the photos too!
An absolutely beautiful blog post!
I'm ready to cry. These are so beautiful. I regret not putting something of me & my boy in here. I'm a real mom. I'm proud to say that. I grew up without a mom - she chose to leave. So I work every day to be everything my husband and my son need me to be. God bless real moms. God bless moms and dads, even aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends, strangers.. those who have to fill in & take over for those who aren't there. Just beautiful. Our kids are everything.
Thank you.
I can't wait for the dad's
My recent post A Fathers Miscarriage
These were so beautiful! I don't think we have any pictures like that of me and any of my kids. Makes me kinda sad. There are actually very few pictures of me at all. I have a couple of really good "dad" ones of my husband, but he has requested that I not put any pictures of him online so I cannot share them.
My recent post Yesterday’s Finds
Some lovely photos there, thanks everyone for sharing. I have had a tumultuous relationship with my mom as a teen (who hasn't?) and I am very glad to have begun establishing a good adult relationship with her now. After she lost her mother last year (my beloved Nana) it became especially important to me to let my mom know how much she means to me. Love you mom!
My recent post Be An Asshole- Just Dont Drive Like One
so many real mom moments in ym daily life that it blows my mind each day. im completely bewildered at the joy of being myh sons mother. its phenomenal. up until 12 minutes ago we were singing trains "hey soul sister" repeatedly until he got bored, before that we saw a live band play while we had dinner and we colored together, and we shared a long drive of music listening :]
i love days off that i get more real mom moments. yep, i adore them...long walks ont he beach, poop up to his neck, coloring on the walls, his gas passing contests that are against himself, and the best good night and good morning kisses ever.
sigh :]
My recent post for a little bit o laughter
These were absolutely wonderful! Some made me smile and laugh, others made me say 'ahhhh' out loud, and some made me feel kinda sad. Thanks for sharing your favorites Dan!

Looking at these wonderful images of beautiful Mothers and wonderful children made me weep. I am a Mother of three beloved boys.
Con't from above..........She was a military wife and mother for 20 years, my Dad and her celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary a few weeks ago, and the prognosis for Ovarian Cancer is 2 years, my Mom passed the 5 year mark this month. She may not have many days left to live, but we celebrate each day for the gift that it is. I wish I would have known about this, it must have been one of the very few posts that I missed......my sister and I have taken lots of pictures over the last few months, just her and us. She is truly my hero!
Well....I thought my replies would end up one of top of the other, since it made me split them up for being too long. Turns out, the first part of this post is at the bottom of the page!
bless you and your family.
These made me tear up......I have held three newborns in my arms, I have stayed with a 15mo old in a Children's Hospital as he was hooked up to iv's, I have been in a NICU with another for 5 days - I have been that mother crying over my child. I have held them and watched them grow. My oldest will graduate from highschool in just a few short weeks while my youngest (and middle child) are potty training together. All this while my own Mom is losing her battle with cancer. All my life everyone has said you'd never "make it". I proved them all wrong. When I was born they told my Mom I wouldnt live, and then when I did they told her to put me in a home because I would never amount to anything (stomach and lungs pumped, baptised and given last rights pretty much at the same time). My Mom taught me NOBODY can tell me what I can or cant do. She has shown me this in her own life as well Con't in the next post!
So sweet, I miss my mom
My recent post mostly good but a little bad
I know it's only a photo contest. But I concerned with many other mothers who did not follow this photo contest, as if would not get the title "Real Moms" (I smiled Dan)
Its always amazing to me, even as a mother , that even when our eyes are closed you can see the love we have for our children! And that the children always have the look of being loved and happy! Thank you for sharing.
Awwww! Let me take this time to say, I love you mom!! :D
My recent post Judgement Day Is Upon Us!
Lovely pictures. My favorite (like others have said) are the ones of moms with their sick LOs. There wasn't a picture taken of my favorite "Real Mom Moment". It was when my first DD was undergoing some tests at our Children's Hospital. One of them was an abdominal ultrasound, and she was very nervous, and still nursing at 15 months. So I jumped up onto the table and nursed DD while the sonographer did her job. The tech said it was her least difficult patient experience in a long time! :D
I'm really surprised it's all mom's and their young kids. I would have expected some of the readers at least to send in pics of themselves with their own moms...
Exellent suggestion. Hopefully Dan and his SDL notice it
Aaack made me cry!! Especially the ones with the sick babies. My favorite was the mom counting baby toes :)
i'm sorry i missed this last month. i have one i would have posted that conveys the quote you posted exactly. hope you'll do it again!
People may call me a lot of things, but my favorite name of all is Mom. Tears rolling down my cheeks. Thanks for showing real moms.
My recent post Food addiction Piece of cake
Beautiful post. I choked up more than once.
I loved this contest and I love this post so much!
My picture is on here, thank you! My "baby" turns 2 yrs old tomorrow and it made me so happy to see his precious face here :-)
I love the one with the kid in the highchair! But they were all fantastic! Raising Marshmallows
Well, Im having a problem picking too. Love pictures of mothers/fathers in precious moments with their kiddos.
My recent post Sorry guys- today is a REALLY bad day
This made me cry. The mom crying over her sick baby in hospital bed was so touching. There was a story that was told with that one. Beautiful. I love being a real mom!!!
UH! They're ALL my favorite! Each time I thought I had a fave the next one was just as good. Beautiful, Dan :)
