The first full-blown autumn tree I’ve seen this year.
I’m not so sure I’m ready for summer to be over!
Dan Pearce, Single Dad Laughing
How about you? You ready for summer to be over or are you secretly sad about it like I am?
I live in the mountains, and the trees look like they have ignited! I strongly believe that we have the most beautiful area in the south for foliage. It is the best and most beautiful time of year :D
Personally, I find the summer too hot, but I love spring and fall, if only we could have just those two seasons, it would be perfect :)
Lovely. Looks beautiful. It feels like fall began early in Central TX with our drought. Leaves have been falling and everything is brown already!
That is awesome! I've seen that happen before, where only one tree changes before the rest of them do. Cool that you got a picture of it.
October is my very favorite month, but i'm always sad when the days get shorter and darkness comes on earlier and we have to pile on so many more items of clothing just to do the simplest of things out of doors...........I miss my Crocks most!!!
I love, love, love Fall with the brilliant blue skies and colorful leaves. Cooler temps are a bonus!!!!!
That is awesome! Just one tree? It looks like you did some photo shopping adding color to just one tree ;c)
I'm happy to see summer over. Well, sorta. Truthfully, I'll miss the 100 degree weather, but fall is my favorite season. I wish we had trees that changed colors here, but it's nice just to have windy days that are in the mid 70s and 80s so you can actually take advantage of being outdoors :)
I went up to the local lake and hiking trails by my house in Payson, Utah this weekend and I was shocked to see that summer was truly ending. The lake was definitely too cold and full of algae to swim in (good thing I had a canoe with me), I had to wear a jacket, and my trails were muddy. I am sad to see summer go, I still had some playing to do!
I detest Delaware's hot humid summers, so I am thrilled that it is cooling off. I also love fall for the smells, the food, the activities; I always feel like I should be heading back to college in the fall. I went to school in New England and I really miss autumn up there!
I LOVE fall!!! My fav time of year.
This year, though, I am sad for summer to be ending. My youngest has started Kindergarten and, while *she* is adjusting well, I'm on an emotional roller coaster around it. Would love to have a re-do of her last year of preschool. Growing up is bittersweet...
it is a beautiful picture...wish summer lasted a bit longer but that's Oregon for you and why we have such beautiful fir trees even in the winter there is beauty to look at
Down here we only have 2 seasons: summer, and deer season. I for one have had it with baking in the 100's. We will lose MANY trees from the drought. Cattle are dehydrating, docks are beached, and fires are burning us up. But I do love the quote.
My sadness at the passing of summer is not so secret - EVERYBODY who knows me knows I hate to see it end. But once I do let it go, I am ready to jump into Christmas!
I live in Bergen, Norway, and we haven't had more than a few scattered days of summer this year - but fall is still my favorite season! Back-to-school time, darker evenings (in summer we hardly have night), Halloween, changing leaves, rain, wind, candles, hot cocoa, mountain hikes, fishing trips, stews for dinner, thick woolly socks, curling up under a blanket with my book...what's not to love???
End of summer is a relief to me...I love my three boys, but I get some quiet time back when they are in school...and they get some solid structure to their days. Plus, fall means apple cider donuts and hayrides at the nearby farm! Every season has a beautiful face, Dan!
@danoah Actually, I'm completely ready for summer to come back...lol. I'm not ready for winter though if that's what you meant :)
@whitneysoup There's a slight amount of post processing, but it is very much real and very little post processing was needed!
@KirstieSavell Haha. Nope. My brother was there, he's my witness! I have a tree like that in my yard. It turns bright red before any other tree around changes.
@Avigayl Spring is definitely preferable to fall to me because it gets warmer every day instead of colder!
@Avigayl My husband must have already taken your advice. He's been doing lots of business there. I ALMOST got to join him on this trip....
@KimberlyStoker Yeah, my last two high altitude hikes got pretty chilly! SO SAD! I am excited to try snow shoeing this year though!
@LuKohnen And I'm on the opposite side of the field! Noah only has one year before preschool and I'm dreading him starting!
@tarenwalters Wow, 110? Where are you at? Usually Utah has a ton of days over 100 where I live. I don't think it got over 100 once this year.
@nicitd Haha. It's not that I don't LOVE fall. It's that this summer came so late in the year and was SO incredible. :)
@Single Dad Laughing I was going to snow shoe last winter. We just moved to the country so we could enjoy lots more outside life, but as soon as we got here, the ice took out my ankle and replaced it with 9 screws and a plate, no range of movement, and pain when I try. GAH. I'm still going to try snow shoeing though!
@Single Dad Laughing texas
@tarenwalters Yeah, I think a lot of Texas deserves a break from summer this year!
