Two brothers. Eight challenges. Eight chances to come up with the best and coolest photographs ever. Only one brother will walk away king of the camera, and the power is in YOUR hands. It’s time for another bro-down.
As you know, I am an avid photographer. And if you’ll remember from the last bro-down (which I won!), my little brother Eric is a photographer over in the UK, and he’s a pretty damn good one. So… while Eric and his family are here visiting us yankees, I thought we’d host another friendly competition here on Single Dad Laughing. After all, isn’t that what brothers do? Compete? Constantly? And without end?
So, here’s how the bro-down is going to go down. Eric and I sat down and made a list of photographic “challenges,” all centered in the “Great Outdoors,” and then we hauled our cameras around all over together, taking photos of all the things on our list. We’ve put each of our best pics into the voting form below without telling you whose is whose. Your only job… thumbs up your favorites! On Thursday, I’ll let you know whose photos belonged to whom, and we’ll crown a victor. Sound good? Oh, and we’ve both agreed that the winner will be the person with the most votes (not necessarily the one with the most winning photographs).
Let the voting begin… And be sure to click on the images to see the larger, much more awesome versions. Seeing them big makes a BIG difference on some of them!
You’re all rockstars. Thanks for participating. If you liked our photographs enough, would you feeding our egos and sharing this post for us? Also, for all you awesome, sexy people over here in the U.K., be sure to check out my brother next time you need a good photographer. www.espphotographic.com.

PS. Of all the photos today, which one was your absolute, hands-down, #1 favorite?
I absolutely love Moving Water #2: Serenity. It's a beautiful photograph and just looking at it completely relaxed me.
Kelly - EXCELLENT idea!!! You could TOTALLY sell off those photos, or licensed screen saver CDs, or something
are those for sale? LOVED the water and pano pics.. wow, that panoramic viewer is awesome. took me three views to appreciate all the details. Missed the horse entirely the first 2 times!
I thought this contest was going to be about which one of you is cuter! I guess moose and bees are cool too though.
You both did a great job. I really enjoyed checking out the pictures. I think I'd actually pay for a couple of those in poster size :)
When it came to moving water #2 was my hands down favorite. I love the colors and textures of the rocks along with the water.
Hard to choose, but I'd have to say it's a tie between Queen of the Forest and Silver Lake Escape. They're all great images, though!
absolute, hands-down, #1 favorite was moving water #2. As soon as it came up I said to myself, "wow! I want that on the wall of my home!" so how do I get that????
QUEEN OF THE FOREST IS MY FAVORITE. She reminds me that part of our world is not contaminated with plastic waste, oil spills, air pollution etc. She is magnificent, regal, and is not at all bothered by the notion of "perfection". She is perfection. Pure.
You definitely need to look at the photos in the larger size. Without it, you miss most of the most interesting detail!
It's great that you have this 'competition' with your Bro. It gets you motivated and focused in your photography.
I can only imagine the fun you two had. I would choose serenity, starry night. panoramic lake and Queen of the Forest
Wow. Just wow. Too hard to choose an overall #1. Queen of the Forest, Serenity, and Lake Blanche would all tie for first in my book. :-) Amazing job, you guys!!
my two favs are smooth water and ghost town, those two photos are stunning the rest are nice but not fab!
Bumble bee number 1 - AMAZING! The luminescence of the bee is awesome. What captures me the most is that you can see the movement of it's wings, yet it is hovering in almost a stall. Moving so fast - yet standing still. Thank you! This reminded me that to be balanced and still, one must continue to move and flow. The rigid bee would surely fall to the floor.
I vote for both brothers for first place! But, then I am a grandma and they are both my favorites. And as a grandma I want you to know both Dan and Eric are top photographers in my book. Then there is Tomi Ann and Amy and Ange. You might as well ask me to shoot an arrow through my foot as ask me to choose one grandchild over the other??? Love Golden Grams Tarbet
And I hate getting an arrow shot through my foot! I hate it when that happens!
Gotta say, that Moose #1 Queen of the Forest. Totally made me smile. Because she looks like SHE is smiling! Love it! :-)
How fun was that! I can just imagine what a great time that was. The proof is in the pictures. My fav is Pano #2 - Silver Lake Escape. I would actually put that on my wall. I actually have the perfect place for it. Well done guys. :)
