Finally, my favorite post of the week! Every Saturday night I take some of the photos that you have uploaded to the Facebook wall, and I post them here. I love This is Beautiful You because it gives me (and everybody else) an incredible glimpse of who we all are. It puts a face on the awesome people coming here. It gives us a beautiful idea of the uniqueness and diversity of the followers here at SDL. More than anything, it shows all of us just how beautiful we each can be.

Anyway, thank you for sharing a small part of yourselves. It’s my honor to put the spotlight on you today. This is beautiful you.

Which photos made you the happiest today?

If you’d like to send in photos to be considered for a future “This is beautiful you” and other future blog posts, please post them on the Facebook wall (we need lots more!). Only upload photos that you don’t mind me using, and that you have the rights to. The photos can be of yourself, or you with anybody that you love or are close to (kids, friends, significant others, parents, siblings, whoever!).

I wish I could post them all today. If your photo didn’t make it, check back over the next few weeks! The picking process is 100% random.

Dan Pearce, Single Dad Laughing

PS. If you’re new here, we’d love to have you find a way to follow along. We have a lot of fun around here.

I think my favorite picture was the one with the little boy shoveling snow behind his dad. That was so cute it made me smile.

I'm SO profoundly grateful that Hubby & I's daughter gets this kind of love on a daily basis, from BOTH of us.

I wonder if that dad will ever realize the incredible and positive impact his love for his daughter will have on her and her future relationships? The best thing a dad can do for his daughter's future is to love her like he's doing in this picture - well done beach dad!

I love the picture of the grandma with oxygen kissing the baby's head.  The imagery of love transcending all things... past, present & future....soft  unblemished baby cheek encircled by grandmother's bruised hands & oxygen tubes above her tender kiss speaks volumes.  So beautiful...

I was touched by the picture of the older lady with the oxygen kissing the baby.  There's something about a new generation that gives us a kind of immortality.  It's something I've been reflecting on a lot since my generation has begun to have children and our older generations have begun to leave us.  Watching my grandparents hold my son has a sort of magic to it.  I am struck by the thought that my grandma was once a baby in someone's lap, and that with luck, perhaps my son will hold his great grandchildren someday and feel that same sense of immortality at finding a bit of himself in them.  It makes the cycle easier to accept and so much more beautiful.

Picture #8 was my sister and I (with my little kids) visiting my Grandma for the last time. Not only did she think we were at a great Chinese Restaurant, she also thought I was the guest singer on her favorite show, Lawrence Welk. It was an awesome day for us all :).
