PS. A few photographic highlights of Noah ’s last soccer game still to come (hopefully later this afternoon).
PPS. What entertains you more? Your kid doing something amazing like kicking a goal, or your kid experiencing a comical mishap? I think for me it’s sixes.

My son ran head first into a goal post during a game and almost knocked himself out. <shakes head> This is the same kid who gave himself a minor concussion playing Connect Four (yes...a board game) I have to laugh at it all or I'd be a basket case.
Haha!!! LOVE it. Long time reader, first time "commenter". Somehow it had escaped me that you were also a photography enthusiast, Dan. Usually ended up readin an awesome post about being a dad from a link from facebook, eventually started seeing that they were all coming from the same guy... and you're a shooter as well? And a canon shooter, no less! My kinda guy. I'm also one who spends WAY too much money on gear to help better document my kids lives as we go. (with some commercial applications on the side, to help justify it all - I shoot on 5d3/5d2/7d) The 7D used to be my body of choice for the soccer field due to it's framerate, but the new baby of the family, the 5D3 is proving to be a total knockout of a sports camera. The diminished reach of full frame is tough, but the IQ makes it worth it. My 5yo son just wrapped up his first season on the soccer field, and our 8yo daughter just recently decided not to continue her soccer career, now looking into other sports. However, you might get a kick out of a little video I tossed together for her team a couple years ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2IAcmRz5KE&hd=1 - this was on the 7D. Working on a similar one as we speak for my boy - he's wanted one of "his own" ever since seeing his sister's. Looking forward to digging a bit more thoroughly through your photos page! Keep up the amazing blog man. The dads of the world need to step up their game!
I think its both great! my kid is a soccer player too! (im a legit soccer mom with a HUGE van! lol) and when he has comical misses we laugh it off and get ice cream to make us feel better and when we hit an awesome goal we cheer and get ice cream to celebrate! hey im a female he's a kid ANY excuse for ice cream is a good one!!! lol
Entertains? Have to admit it is usually the mishaps or the oddities. Like the fact that when all the other kids were standing nice & still while the audience applauded at the school concert, my 1st grader was taking dramatic bows. Or trucked along waaaaay behind the other kids running laps at soccer yelling "I'll catch up when you get around to catch me!" Don't get me wrong - I am immensely proud & frequently tearful when he does awesome things. But for sheer entertainment value... it's the almost / not quite awesome "Mommy please don't put that one on Facebook" ones that will make me giggle randomly for ages.
Such enthusiasm on his part; the fact he tried counts tremendously.
Hey, he didn't touch the ball with his hands! Way to go, Noah!
So precious :)
typical kid sports! Love it!!
That is awesome! My daughter plays on a challenge team and one time went to kick the ball and both feet came out from under her and she landed flat on her back...got up and kept playing.
Great shots you captured.

Your boy is so DANG cute ! & amazing ! I love it when the kids can just enjoy the game mishaps & all with all of their team mates & the when the parents just root for them no matter what is happening in the " GAME " this is when they are learning good sportsmanship !

Hilarious that he ended up sitting on the ball. I really want a decent camera. :D

That is great! I also fancy myself an amateur photographer, and dragged my Nikon along to my 4 year old daughter's gymnastics "recital" last Friday. I think every clear shot I got of her, she is upside down with her bottom facing me. LOL!

oh, this made me smile. I can still remember having those mishaps- being terribly embarrassed for a second before bursting out laughing. No doubt you will be criticized for this....
Absolutely, exactly like I would do it LOL! Such a beautiful child!
My favorite moment was seeing one of my little girls reach over the fence to catch a softball - she caught the ball and flipped over the fence!

That is so cute, thanks for sharing :)
I remember my son's first year of soccer (which I volunteered as assistant shoe tyer aka assistant coach) and there was so little attention span the ball would be flying at the kids and they be on the ground trying to find a worm or looking at the sky because they saw a butterfly! Lol! Love lil kid soccer!
@KimHansen That's why we did soccer. :) T-ball was a disaster of "look - an airplane" & wandering off... because how many 4 year olds can really be "ready" while waiting long enough for all 10 kids on the other team to take their turns mostly-not-hitting the ball? In soccer (at the young ages at least) it's all good as long as they are moving around, hopefully somewhere near-ish the general idea of the ball. Much easier for a kid to feel successful at, even if they aren't a superstar athlese.
My favorite part of this is the other kids looking on helplessly...
I was waiting to see the girl holding the ball Charlie Brown style.
ahhhh love it! Go Noah Go!
Lol too cute! I enjoy mishaps and accomplishments evenly.
Every day of school this year my 6 year old made me walk her all the way into breakfast and to a table this morning she jumped out of the car ran up the stairs and into the building all on her own. the fact that tomorrow is the last day of school was not lost on me and I laughed all the way home!
D'awww!! Too adorable. ^_^
Totally sixes! Although we get more opportunities for the funny, because our kids are awesome like that. :)
That last one needs a "I meant to do that!" caption lol
