Every week I will share my favorite photo from the week with as little explanation as possible, since, you know, a picture says a thousand words. Click the image to enlarge it.

Wildfire smoke cloud

This morning I was enjoying a fantastic omelet when all the light in the room suddenly went bright orange. I stepped outside with my camera just in time to see this wildfire smoke cloud as it hastened to cover the entire sky.

PS. It’s wildfire season. This one was set off by gunfire. Are there any wildfires going on where you live?

Yes we have 8 wildfires in Colorado. It is really smokey here and the damage is just heart breaking.

Hey Dan, if it's summer, it's wildfire season here in Arizona...sadly

Your photo reminds me of what it looked like during the beginning of the Angora Fire. It's been almost five years. This June has been even more dry and almost continually windy--very scary fire conditions!

Live in fort Collins and still choking on the smoke from the high park fire.....191 homes lost now....it's the worst in Colorado for homes lost now

250 homes have been evacuated so far today due to this fire that started last night. So sad and scary for everyone living out there.. I could see the fire from 1600 North in Orem at about 5 pm last night. The picture is really stunning though!

Fort Collins, Colorado. High Park fire a few miles from my home. 2 weeks, 68k+ acres, 191 structure gone - with no end in sight. It will be a generation before my mountains resemble anything close to what they were... Gotta thank the brave and selfless people who are tirelessly fighting it out there in horrible conditions.

Much love from me & mine!

Lived in the Colorado Mtns during the Storm King fire and the sun turned red - very scary and beautiful at the same time.

Yes.  That fire happens to be pretty close to where I live.

I live in San Diego and every October is brush fire season. The hot Santa Ana winds blow fierce and once a fire gets started, its off and running. It drives me nuts to see people throwing cigarette butts out their car window during that time. So dangerous! (Not to mention, littering.) One year, I briefly left San Diego for 8 months (momentary lapse of sanity) and I came back mid-October. One week later the brush fires hit and we lost a lot of homes in the neighborhood - three on the cul-de-sac where my home was located and only the photos on the news station website of our neighbors' houses burning down gave us any hope that our's might survive. It did. We were very lucky.

I am in Florida...right now they are not AS bad, but in the summer we always have some type of fires. That looks really bad, and scary. Stay safe.
