For those of us outdoors folk who actually live here in Utah, there’s a damn good reason for it. And I intend to show you all, one picture and one adventure at a time, why Utah really is the greatest place on earth.
I mean… you may be able to go out on a first date and not have the first question be, “did you used to be a missionary?” but I get to drive thirty minutes to Provo Canyon and stand at the base of this…
Spectacular Bridal Veil Falls.

607 feet tall, spilling over two main tiers, and easy to get to, this waterfall is always a favorite destination for visitors to Utah. Bridal Veil Falls is one of the prettiest waterfalls in all of North America and it’s literally right up the road from where I live.
And that is why I live in Utah.

Niagara Falls, Canada... :) also the little falls at Crowe Lake, Marmora
I think St. George is a fun place in Utah with the cutest B&B's. I even bought some beautiful fairly large rocks (that thrilled the hubby) that you couldn't get in Bountiful, Utah. The colors were fantastic. Yep, I've got them here in Arkansas with me!
I've lived other places, we didn't actually move to Utah til I was 4. Even traveling and seeing other beautiful places, well, none of them compare to home. Is it weird here? Yeah, sometimes. But the natural beauty kinda makes up for that.
Visit Idaho
Just got back from Vacation in Utah. My husband and I had a picnic right at Bridal Veil Falls. Its our new favorite spot out there. I even braved wading in the water! I recommend to all my friends to go to Utah the scenery out there is truly beautiful.
My niece just got married there in February. Umm ya we kind of stood in the parking lot but hey, it was pretty and the weather was actually decent that day.
We have Taughannock Falls. And Buttermilk Falls, but Taughannock is prettier. And then there's Watkin's Glen....

@Docdar58 My sister went on vacation last year to Watkin's Glen. I have it on my list of places to see, gorgeous!
We don't have water here. We did once, but now it's only sand and cactus. I once had a bumper sticker on my car (which blew up into flames so I ditched it) that read, "Rillito River Yacht Club slip #9". I got more people asking me where that yacht club was. It was a great conversation starter when I was single. Especially since that river has been nothing but sand for years except on the rare days when it rains enough to plug up the drains. At that time there is a modest trickle of water snaking down through more...SAND. There are even sand-falls. Yeah. Gotta watch out for those things. Once I went Sand bass fishing. People were stopping all afternoon to comment on my stringer of Sand bass (straight out of the freezer).
I love Bridal Veil Falls, though. We climb up there every time we go up. I'd have loved to have been there when the tram still worked.
I think the next time we go up, I want to climb the Devil's Slide (back of the Front). It looks extremely fun.
In Georgia we have several falls but my favorite one and the one I grew up next to was/is Amicalola Falls... It's where the start of the appliachain trail is.
In Oregon we have many beautiful places but if you want waterfalls, go to Silver Falls State Park. It is only about an hour or so from Portland and it is so lovely. There is over 20 miles of hiking trails including the Trail of Ten Falls. It is filled with Douglas Fir trees and other flora as well as wildlife of all sorts. It is one of my favorite hiking spots. http://www.oregonstateparks.org/images/pdf/silverfalls_trailmap.pdf
@swanodette71 While we're talking about cool water places in Oregon, one of my favorite places to jump off bridges is the North fork of the Santiam. There's a freaky cool bridge there where you can see clear to the bottom, and a hot springs feeds into it just above where you jump in. The trout there are ENORMOUS and you can almost catch them barehanded they're so slow.
@HeidiMurphy @swanodette71 Careful, you are making me want to get my flyrod out and do some fishing instead of going to class.... :-)
Dang, I didn't get to see that when I lived in Utah three years. After my husband retired, he asked if I wanted to move back to Arkansas. While Utah was absolutely gorgeous and the summers were basically bug-free, I missed the miles and miles and miles of trees we have here in Arkansas. Luckily, we do come back to Utah because my husband has a daughter and her family (our grandchldren) there. I never got tired of looking outside the windows and seeing mountains. Beautiful country and great people.
Absolutely beautiful!!
So? Did you?
There is a Bridal Veil falls in OR, too! :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:BridalVeilFalls_Oregon.JPG
