The Quail Fire that is threatening homes in Alpine (including my parents’) jumped into the next canyon South. This canyon is heavily vegetated and is burning with gusto. It’s the last major canyon before it reaches the part of the mountain against which my parents live. Firefighters have saved every house so far. Let’s hope their streak continues.

It is sad to see “my mountain” transform the way it is. Everywhere the fire has touched, all the color has been sucked away.

They’re sending in some firefighting big guns tonight. Let’s hope this gets under control soon. Right now it is at zero percent containment.

PS. You can view a lot more photos of this fire by visiting my personal Facebook page (different than my SDL page) where I’ve posted them all and made them public.

My parents live on village way and it is insane sitting here watching the mountain explode!

We were at the splash pad this morning watching them fight this fire. It was incredible. I hope all houses stay unharmed! watching all those huge trees light up in flames is really sad and scary.

Speaking from a fellow Southwestern resident (in NM) I hope they can get it under control and that we have better weather soon~I feel for residents and the fire fighters that are being over worked this season unfortunately
