The mountain is now at the mercy of the winds until morning. Pilots can’t fight the fires at night, which means no more retardant until morning. My parents just got permission to move the horses from their barn and take them to another location. Let’s hope this fourth of July doesn’t turn out to be a disastrous one for my parents or any of the other Alpine families that are in danger of losing their homes tonight.

If you enlarge the image, you can see yet another clear night with starry skies above.

PS. You can view more photos of this fire by visiting my personal Facebook page (different than my SDL page) where I’ve posted them all and made them public.

Dan, if you get the chance to return, put a sprinkler on the roof and let it run. It kept many houses safe during the big fires up north a few years ago. Don't bother if you've already evacuated. Your safety is more important. Best wishes for you and your family over night and on Independance Day.

It sucks so bad! My parents home was originally threatened by one fire. The fire changed directions and instead threatened and burned many more. These fires are horrible and scary. I continue to pray for everyone

My folks had to evac 2 days ago from the ranch. Fire has probably taken the house already...if not then tomorrow for sure. Was only 3 miles away. I feel for you...and anyone else in this hell.

Ugh I'm so sorry. My aunts house was soooo close to the Herriman fire last week. This is an awful summer in Utah. I'm actually really scared for what tomorrow brings...I wish fireworks had been banned altogether.

I hope it rains soon!  Doesn't look likely, but I still hope it does for your parent's sake.
