For those of us outdoors folk who actually live here in Utah , there’s a damn good reason for it. And I intend to show you all, one picture and one adventure at a time, why Utah really is the greatest place on earth.
I mean… you may be allowed to drink coffee and not be banned from your siblings’ wedding for it, but I get to hike a couple miles through my favorite canyon and arrive at this…
Gorgeous Lake Mary.
Thousands of people pull up to the Brighton Ski Resort every summer for some amazing hiking trails. The Brighton Lakes trail takes them to three different lakes (Dog Lake, Lake Mary, and Lake Katherine). Less than four-miles round trip, this is a family favorite.
And that is why I live in Utah.

That's why I moved here from Oregon years ago... All my family is still up there, but I love it here and refuse to leave! Luckily my husband, a Utahn native, agrees. We're up in Cache Valley though, so the best lake we have close by is probably Tony Grove.
This just made me email my boyfriend that we need to plan a trip to utah! but i might need to smuggle in some coffee :)
And Strawberry Lake.
Utah is gorgeous but it is in second place behind my beautiful Colorado :)
We just moved to Utah and I have been using your blog to learn about my new home. Thanks, Dan!
We drove through both northern Utah and southern Utah this summer and fell in LOVE with it. It's GORGEOUS, peaceful, and just feels wonderful to be there. We can't wait to go back for MORE hiking and we definitely want to show the kids the canyons there. We weren't there long enough, but WOW, it is worth the drive!
