Hey everyone, just a heads up.
I will be working heavily on my upcoming book for the next little while, both writing it and working toward getting a publishing deal. Cross your fingers for me.
It is a book of memoirs and life lessons, which will have you rolling on the floor laughing so hard you question your own continence. And you won’t see it for some time (publishing is a long process).
That being said, writing those memoirs takes a certain part of my brain that is used to write narratives, and I’m finding that when I’ve used it up for the day trying to create the funniest, most thoughtful stuff I’ve ever written, I don’t have a lot left in me for blogging.
That being said, there’s another part of my brain that isn’t being tapped, and it’s the “list writing” side of my brain. Writing funny or thoughtful lists uses a totally different part of my creative brain, and I have plenty of that left over for the blog.
This is all to say that over the next while, you’ll probably see a lot more list-type posts than usual here on Single Dad Laughing and a few less of the narrative style that you’ve all come to know.
You know, in case you wonder why I’m suddenly changing my tune.
That’s all.
As you were.
Dan Pearce, Single Dad Laughing

Bring it! Love the lists.
I like lists. Gives lots of insight.
I hope you get a deal when it's out on submission! I understand how awful the publishing process is!
Good luck with your new book. I cannot wait to read it. Meanwhile, don't worry. I'll still be here enjoying whatever you feel like posting, I'm still discovering and enjoying your old blog posts.Whatever, It's all good.
Kudos to you, priorities, best of luck
1. Penguin
2. Penguins
3. MOAR penguins!
That is all :)
@Arynn Win. At thread. At life. That is all.
Thanks. Now I have Devo stuck in my head. lol
I second (or by the time it took me to login/register/post it might be a third, or a fourth, or a fifth, or a...you get the picture) the idea of running some older blog posts. Some of us newbies would love to read some of your older stuff! Lists are good too..

Publish it yourself. Otherwise you're working for others that don't understand your audience, and want the lion's share of the return anyway. (In other words, you'd be working for parasites.)
You're a smart guy. You can do it.

Hi, Dan,
Fellow writer here. Your post today made me think of this --have you seen it? http://blog.nathanbransford.com/2012/08/the-publishing-process-in-gif-form.html?spref=fb
The best of luck to you with your book!
Barb
Word. I'm sure book writing is hard. Carry on.
I suppose that is acceptable. :) Good luck with your book! I'm utterly terrified of if/when I try to get published.
Wishing you great success with your book! Can't wait to buy it and devour it! In the meantime, lists are awesome... so are reposts of old posts since I STILL haven't had a chance to sit down and read over the entire archive of your site. LOL
Stay Calm... and Carry On :)
I like lists
Enjoy the process!
Well and you can always do a "re-post" of some of your older stuff... that we may have missed but shouldn't have... Just like on TV with their re-runs, because if they can do it you can too ;P
Now go and write like the wind young Grasshopper... make us all proud ;)
Do what you need to do! We are all behind you...as long as you don't fart. Ba-dum-bum! No seriously!! Good luck!
Lists are:
Fun
Informative
Interesting
Succinct
Dan-a-licious
Keep up the fun!
(Kinda like I couldn't wait to read the post about how you delivered the news to your neighbors and was one of the folks hounding you about it!) :D
Good luck Dan!!! I can't wait to read it!
SDL...You are not laughing in this pic?? :(
Good luck Dan
It may be a long process but it is so worth it! You have an enormous cheering section out here. We all hope you get to see your dream become a reality!
Lists work for me. I'll take what I can get. Put that big, beautiful brain toward the book - we're all cheering you on!
PS - When I said "big, beautiful brain" I wasn't implying you had a huge head. Promise.
Crossed my fingers, toes, and eyes for you. Good luck!
Hey, as long as you're still hanging out with us, I'm OK with whatever style you need to write in. :). Good luck!
Thanks
Love your heart, Dan. I'm so proud of you and how far you've come since I joined with you on facebook. Keep being awesome!
Got my fingers crossed. Good luck with your book!
Best wishes with the book. Focus. Focus. Focus.
Cant wait for the book!
Kyle, not going anywhere. Just changing the way I'm doing it. :)
I hope you will check in here and say hi, I am doing well, every once in a while??!!
Good luck Dan!!! :)
