I’m a big believer that if a kid *really* doesn’t want to do something, and it’s *really* not that important, you should give them a fun out that leaves the ball in their court.

Like today, when my kid *really* didn’t want to take a nap.

LOL.

Seriously. Are all parents as lucky as me?

Dan Pearce, Single Dad Laughing

PS. It’s totally not as easy as it looks. Try staring straight at one object and not blinking for an entire minute, with something huge like no naps on the line.

I just found your site! You have a loyal follower :) You two have a BEAUTIFUL bond and it's so inspiring to see a parent love their child so much. I'm a mom to two very little boys. The days are certainly long but you've reminded me about the importance of giggles!

Lucky boy!! He blinks - he has to nap. I blink & I've gotta be retrained! Seriously - that's some wonderful parenting.

He's so darn cute! (and I'd be blinking a LOT just to get to take a nap!)

Way to go Noah!! I blinked several times just watching. Great parenting Dan, many could learn a lot from you.

And this is the problem with children. They don't appreciate napping. If my boss came to me and told me that I had to nap. I'm pretty sure I would do something inappropriate. :)

I did it with him! And I had the exact same urges to sort of giggle inwardly when he did!!!

Can you seriously come give me parenting classes? My 4 year old daughter and I are in a pretty constant war of wills and, lets face it, you've got the touch. You are an awesome dad!

Don't blink. Blink and you're dead. They are fast. Faster than you can believe. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink. Good Luck. "  - Doctor Who

Such a cute little boy.  He is lucky to have a dad like you.  I used to have to spray 'Monster-be-Gone' in the closet and under the bed to get my little boy to take a nap. (Lysol, folks, works like a charm)

@modernmom23 - A lavender linen spray works too, something with a soothing, sleep inducing scent! :-)

@modernmom23 We used to get the dog to come do "monster checks" in all the little nooks and crannies (hide dog treats) because, you know, dogs can see the invisible ones ;-) Worked like a charm. He trusted the dog WAY more than he ever trusted one of us to tell him it was all clear

My son rocks at this game. We were traveling last weekend and he bet me that he could go without blinking until the next exit (7 miles). I lost (no...I wasn't driving). I couldn't make it more than 2 minutes because my eyes burned so bad. He made it well past the exit. Kids are strong-willed, ya know!

He is so stinkin cute! I am incredibly pro naps as a stay at home mom of a 3 year old, but I was totally cheering him on! You are a great dad!

Take a nap get some ice cream also works. But this also means he will pass out hours earlier than usual.
