Trolls and Haters. Everyone says ignore ’em.

I say, don’t ignore them. Write beautiful poetry for them instead because it’s a LOT more fun (and therapeutic) than simply pretending they don’t exist.

Oh, and PS. This was meant to be read in a ridiculous Dr. Seussy sort of rhythm. Desktop readers can listen to me read it via the player above (sorry mobile peeps!).

Poem for the Trolls – #4

This week I got a special call
From a lady so dang nice.
“Come be on the Katie Show!
Don’t make us ask you twice.”

And out I flew just one day later
Feeling confidant and sassy,
Nervous, happy, and overwhelmed,
This whole thing was so bad-assy.

I then had my moment, it was big for me,
And I thought it went pretty well,
And even though I was a sweaty mess,
No one could really tell.

So, I wrote about it on my blog
About my nerves out of control
And how my moment should not have been
Not with my past life, past heart, past soul.

In truth I was completely floored
When I found myself beneath the lights
In front of cameras and people watching
In a brief national spotlight.

No part of me felt cool enough
To be sitting there that day
I wasn’t really noteworthy enough
In any special way

And I blogged about that.

Then the trolls came, yes,
Some vicious comments left by butts.
About how I was so arrogant,
And a pompous media slut

And how my demonstrated humility
Was obviously oh so fake
And how I shouldn’t blog about it at all
“A good blogger that would make.”

Wow, those comments were really mean.
Some even made me cry.
I pulled my hair, and laid in bed,
Wanting nothing but to die.

Ummm…

Oh, please, you think that’s really true?
You think your words mean anything to me?
You think I did a single thing,
Besides find the link and hit “delete?”

Guess what. It’s my blog. Not yours.

It’s the ins and outs of my crazy life,
And the ups and downs as well.
It’s the moments in the big spotlight
And the ones in gloom as well.

And I’m not going to censor the better times
Because you hate when good things happen
To anyone who is not you,
Foo, you must be snappin’!

So, while I only planned to write one post
About that interview at all
I wrote this one, to have some fun
And kick the trolls square in the…

Bum bum.

Nothing but love, haters. Nothing but love.
