Over on the Single Dad Laughing Facebook page, I opened the floor to you to ask any question, silly or serious, easy or difficult. So many amazing questions came in, I decided to split it into three posts. Here’s the final set of answers!
Oh, and if you missed the first couple rounds of questions & answers, you can find the first one here! And the second one here!
Q: If you had to be the best in the world at one thing, and you had to choose it yourself, what would you pick?
Wow. That’s tough. I mean, I’m already the best dad, the best writer, the best friend, the best brother, the best son, the best photographer, and the best pretty much everything.
Ahem. Please note sarcasm. There may be someone better than me at photography. But only one. Ahem. Please note sarcasm. I do not think I’m the best in the world at anything. And if I had to choose, I’d want to be the best communicator. I’d want to be able to perfectly read any body language, understand what deeper issue is always driving other people’s responses, always have the perfect response back, and just plain ol’ understand people.
Q: Number one place you want to travel? (mine’s Ireland!!!) Also, what are the top 5 things on your bucket list?
A: I really want to visit New Zealand someday. I’m waiting for Noah to be old enough to appreciate trips where there is just endless beauty and no theme parks. Haha. Bucket list… I want to publish a book that changes the world. I want to finish a Tough Mudder (I’m signed-up for one in September!). I want to start a charity-gym where I train people on a pay it forward system. I want to ski in the Alps. I want to make it at least to the ten-year mark with one person in a relationship (hey, it’s hard for some of us!). And, I want to meet Ellen one day. That’s one trip I would never turn down.
Q: Why are you still single?
A: Please tell me. I haven’t been able to figure it out myself. I certainly have spent lots of time wondering, though!
Q: Has anyone told you lately that its the simple, kind things you do that make you such a joy to know and makes your blog one of the best parts of the day? Its obvious you love your life and the people in it. I hope that you know it come through in your writing.
A: I included this because, even though it’s kind of a hypothetical question, I just want you to know that these types of comments and responses mean more than anything to me doing what I do. I am truly happy. I do truly love my life and the people in it. I truly love all of you. And it makes me so happy that it shows all by itself.
Q: Do you use an app to send out random text?
A: No. And I’ve been meaning to write a blog post about how hard it actually is to come up with those “Wrong Numbers” posts. It’s no easy task and has a very crappy hard side, too. After the first one, I got a second phone just to do it with.
Q: Do you sleep naked?
A: No. I wear socks. Also, if I’m feeling gassy, I wear undies. Gotta have some sort of barrier there for my 500 thread-count sheets. They would never survive.
