Artists You Should *Definitely* Know About

I am a huge fan of both the visual arts and the performing arts. This world is such a fantastically beautiful and inspiring place full of so many unique people that make it that way. It somewhat saddens me that the younger generations seem to be losing a bit of the connection with the arts.

Every week or two, I’d like to do my part to fix that on Single Dad Laughing by featuring four artists. A visual artist. A performing artist. A photographer. And a street performer.

Most of you probably don’t know, but long, long ago I used to make my living as an animal portraitist. I also played the tuba and baritone for many years when I was younger. At least once every month or two I try to support the arts by attending the ballet or the symphony or an Indie concert.

My hope is that this weekly post will inspire you to either get out and support the arts a lot more, or to pick up that paintbrush, dust off that old guitar, or start stretching your dancing legs. And please, help support the arts and share this post!

This week, I have three awesome artist/performers for you to check-out:

This Week’s Featured FINE Artist:
Artist Name:
Luciana Frigerio

The weekly featured artist may include artists that work in many different mediums including watercolor, graphite, charcoal, oil, acrylic, mixed media, pen & ink, sculpting, etc.

I think you should post about Lost Trail (http://www.losttraildrone.com/losttrail.cfm and https://soundcloud.com/losttrailnc and https://www.facebook.com/losttrailnc), which is the music my husband and I make (his full-time job) and also about E. M. Corsa, a wildlife painter (more well-known than Lost Trail, but still worth mentioning).  Her art can be seen here: http://www.yellowhousegallery.com/artist_detail.aspx?Artist=9 and her blog here: http://emcorsabackyardwild.blogspot.com/

I keep trying to submit mine, but it won't work. I keep being told that my .jpg photos"this file type is not allowed", no matter which photos I try to use.

Anyways, here's my page on Facebook. I'll try to submit again later.

You're probably overloaded with responses right now but if you DO start running low on visual artists to feature, you might consider looking through deviantArt for artists on there?

(Also boo that you don't have a writing category. Writing is an artform too! ;))

if you get a chance Dan, it would be lovely if you could take a look at my website. My dream is to be a visual artist full time. Never give up on your dreams right?

I love love love Luciana Frigerio, her artwork is amazing and if I knew my husband wouldn't kill me I'd be ordering at least 3 of her pieces, for my 2 kids and myself, RIGHT NOW!!! Genesis was incredible AND he was sick! Gave me goosebumps. Of course your brother is amazing, always is. Ummm Book on Tape Worm... not my fav! They have so much potential and I bet they are stunning but I can't stand when it's like a war between vocals and instruments. I wanted to hear those awesome lyrics you were talking about (I love songs with meaningful lyics) but I couldn't hear anything over that damn piano! I wanted to throw that piano out the window! Just my opinion, maybe it's cause I just woke up and am kinda cranky but yeah Idk by the time the song was over I was so pissed that I couldn't hear the lyrics that my day felt completely ruined (stupid I know lol) until I heard Genesis, he made it all better. Good selection, I look forward to seeing more artists each week or two!

What a wonderful idea! Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to see next week's artists...and the week after that! And what a talented family you have! I was just reading your sister Amy's blog after you posted the 911 call the other day. I can't wait to see what tricks your other siblings have up their sleeves. And I'm kind of partial to your photography too! I'll bet you learned from the best (your bro)!

Wow, thanks so much for sharing! I'm thinking one of those book art pieces would be a perfect birthday/wedding gift for my fiance. We both love reading, what a great way to celebrate that.
