“Harry was my best friend,” the movie star said after the incident. “This will be made right.”
An unfortunate twist of events left one unfortunate Mississippian in Russell Crowe’s crosshairs this week after he accidentally ate the famed actor’s pet ferret.
Crowe was on location in Coffeeville, Mississippi filming his upcoming movie “Killed with a Single Glance” when local hillbilly Jeb Jensen wandered onto the set.
“I jus’ knew whatever was about to get dished out to me was somethin’ I deserved. His eyes’ll do that to ya. Never look that man in the eyes.”
Jensen, a jerky maker, had gone out before sunrise to check the wire vermin traps that he had set in nearby fields the night before. Each morning, he collects his catch and begins the process of turning his kill it into various kinds of meat treats. According to Jensen, Coffeeville residents are particularly fond of his home-seasoned possum jerky.
“I look over n’ I see this fancy pants trailer parked in my field right by where I put my daggum trap the night before,” he said. “I look over and sure enough, there’s my trap under that trailer. I was just tryin’ to get what was mine.”
What he didn’t know was that Russell Crowe was inside the trailer and that the trap he thought he saw was actually the cage for Crowe’s pet ferret.
According to reports, Jeb pulled the cage from beneath the trailer, placed the ferret into a gunny sack, and left without being seen.
