I think we’re overdue for another post in our afternoon series where I share some of the more intriguing, interesting, funny, random, and downright awesome internet fruitcakes that make their way to my email inbox. You know… for the occasional afternoon pick-me-up where neither you, nor I, need to think too much.
Today’s fruitcake was sent to me by my friend Gary and was called More Than Just a Picture. Thanks Gare Bear.
Enjoy… there were no words in this email. Just amazing photos.

PS. Feel free to send me your favorite email pass-arounds. If they’re awesome enough, I may just include one in a future “Internet Fruitcake” post! Forward it to blog [at] danoah dot com.

I loved how I was getting sad and then there would be one that made me smile (boy with the h2o), or made me catch my breath (waterfall).
the service dog and his disabled human
Okay, it might be the onion in my eye, but some of these were a lot more sad than uplifting. Some cute ones for sure, but I think I need to go eat half a batch of cookies now.
The one with the elderly man holding the baby brought tears to my eyes.
amckaig does it really matter how one gets them though? worst case scenario - there's always www.tineye.com.the first photo, for example, was taken by jane therese - http://janetherese.photoshelter.com/image/I0000NQBtp60lQvUthe sixth photo was taken by this guy: http://yaroslav.35photo.ru/etc. etc.not attacking Dan by any means, but it just seems to me that credit is due...
The picture of the elderly gentleman standing on the subway while so many young people were sitting really got me. I recently took a trip to NYC. I was very pregnant and was carrying my 2 year old on my hip. I got on a subway and there was only standing room. There were many teens and other young people sitting, but the only person who offered me a seat was an elderly gentleman. I fear for our future.
Hand me the Kleenex box!
thank you so much!
I like the picture of the little boy pouring the water over the man's cigarette! awesome! teach 'em young! Have an awesome day with your boy!
please tell me the one with the soldier hiding behind Santa's chair is about to surprise his son . . . that one made me bawl!
@liahonagirl I saw this on a website last year, yes, it was all his son asked for for Christmas, he was there to give him his wish.
dan, i feel like you should at least cite the sources of where you got them. somebody took them; some of them may be copyrighted -- somebody deserves credit for them. not that one would be expected to find the author of everything on them internets, but still...
@anon I don't know if Dan got them the same way, but I got them in an email months ago. The email I got had a small blurb under each picture about what the picture was about, but not sources.

The father and son one is PERFECT. The one with the ballerina needs no words. Thank you for sharing these, Mister Dan.
wow, thanks. The old man and the baby got me choked up. :-)
beautiful pictures :)
the santa was my favorite
I loved the picture of Santa Claus and the returning soldier sitting behind him. I can only imagine the child's reaction when their father came around the corner.
Amazing pictures. Thank you for sharing.
Blown away...thank you!!
Military ones always get to me since we have been through it too.
Amazing pics
The photo of the elderly gentleman and the infant touched me deeply.
My dad has Alzheimer's Disease and is now in long-term care. Earlier this year, though, he was still at our family home. My niece gave birth to a healthy baby boy last September. This past February was the first time my dad held his great-grandson. I was lucky enough to get a picture of that. That moment was the most animated I've seen my dad in years! I will cherish that photo for the rest of my life.
Love them all, so moving and powerful with no words.
Loved these! And needed them today.
i cried when I saw the solder holding his wife. I'm still crying .. my husband isn't even a solder.
omg, beautiful, i started bawling at the pic with the old man in the hospital holding the lil baby.
Love all of them
Loved the "fruitcakes" The one with the Panda was great. Why? Because I have flown home from China with that very same, large, bulky panda!
These are FANTASTIC!
The military ones get me EVERY time. Those are all good photos though. Beautiful.
Love all of them! So many emotions!
Powerful and beautiful photo's. Thank you so much for sharing them.
I really liked the returning military ones and also the boy and his dad.
