We’ve all heard the quote now, “be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle.” But do we have the guts to believe it? Are we big enough to step back from the negative we want to believe and try and see other people’s battles?
We might be justified in what upsets us. Maybe people are just terrible people. But we might also be wrong about everything, or we might be wrong about the person’s intentions or what led to the moment that really angered us. Maybe we just don’t know what kind of battle they are fighting, or we don’t want to admit it. Today I want to try a new Truth Box. I want you to answer two questions. Anonymously.
What someone did that I find so upsetting, and the great battle they’re probably actually fighting.
I want you to share something that someone has done that you’re currently (or very recently) upset about. It can be anything.
So what is your truth? Share it in this form, and I will share it with everyone. I don’t want your name. It doesn’t record your IP address. I don’t ask for your email. There’s no way to tie it to you. Just a couple of boxes. Truth boxes.
I’ll anonymously share one with you if you’ll share one with me. Call me crazy, but I bet we’ll all feel a little more normal when we try to figure out just how human we all are.
